Welcome to Meyers Elementary School

Meyers Elementary School, formerly known as Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School (LTESMS), is situated in Meyers, California, near South Lake Tahoe. The decision to rename the school back to Meyers Elementary coincided with the Lake Tahoe Unified School District's transition from a school of choice to community-based schools in 2022. The school offers advanced technology, including 1:1 Chromebook computing, document cameras, and Viewboards in every classroom. With a focus on environmental science education, Meyers Elementary benefits from its location near Lake Tahoe, receiving grants for innovative programs and field trips through partnerships like the South Tahoe Environmental Educator Coalition (STEEC). The school provides diverse programs to meet community needs, including Transitional Kindergarten and Early Admission Kindergarten programs. Academic excellence is emphasized, supported by initiatives like Response to Intervention (RTI), collaborative teaching strategies, and hands-on science instruction. ENROLLMENT PROCESS for New Families:

*WE ARE CURRENTLY TAKING NAMES FOR OUR 24/25 KINDERGARTEN CLASSES - pls enroll by April 1, 2024* Your child's date of birth must be on or before 9/1/19 (scroll down for info on TK).

Use the LTUSD Elementary Transportation Zone Map to find your school; this is the school you
should enroll at in the system. This is your residence address (we are required to collect
proof of residency upon acceptance.)

If your incoming student is brand-new to LTUSD, complete the online enrollment
(https://laketahoe.asp.aeries.net/air) for your school of residence and choose the correct year
enrollment (or pre-enrollment depending on the time of year). (If you have an existing sibling enrolled in LTUSD, log in to your already created
account and click the Enroll a New Student button so your children will be linked in the portal).

If you wish to transfer from one of our other District schools, submit the Open Enrollment
form under Forms on our website (email to [email protected]). Please note on the form
your child's date of birth and if you live in or out of boundary zone.

If you are new to our District and live outside of our school boundary but wish to
apply here, you need to enroll online for your school of residence first, then complete
the Open Enrollment form (mentioned above) to get on our Waitlist (pls note DOB on form).
We will contact you in August if we have space available.

If you do get admitted to a school outside your boundary, LTUSD only provides very
limited transportation. As well, our numbers will be analyzed each year for those that live
out of bounds and there is the possibility you could be "bumped" by someone that lives in boundary.

Please do not bring any paperwork to the school until we contact you (via email) with an
acceptance. If the online system won't allow you to access the forms, I have posted the
complete packets on this website under Forms.

We are in the planning phase of a possible TK class here in the Fall (half day AM). If you have a child that was born between 9/2/19 - 6/2/20 he/she could be eligible for TK this Fall. Also, you must live in the Meyers zoned area (see above for the map link). If you meet those criteria, please email me at [email protected] with your child's name, DOB and physical address so I can add you to the interest list. As well, you should contact Tahoe Valley School to enroll in the TK program there (in the case that we don't end up doing TK here).

TOURS FOR NEW FAMILIES: please meet the Principal in the Lobby of the school at 10:00 AM on the following Fridays in 2024: April 19, May 3 and May 17. If possible, please leave younger siblings at home.

PRIORITIES FOR ENTRY:

*Students/Families wishing to attend their transportation zoned school will have first enrollment priority.
(see map link above)

*Students/Families (with siblings going into that school year) that want to continue in their current school OUTSIDE of their transportation zone, will be next on the priority list.
*Students/Families requesting a school outside of their transportation zone, will be admitted based on space available. A lottery will be used if necessary and you may not be notified of acceptance until August of that school year.

We will strive to keep families with multiple children in the same school.
